Summary : Great cam but not what I was looking for
This is a great cam but unfortunately it was not what I was looking for. I am interested in buying a webcam that is compatible with web platforms (video chat websites) and this webcam does not work like that.
I did get to try the webcam on Skype and Yahoo messenger and it worked very well. Very clear picture, great camera in low-light areas.
Great cam if you don't want to use it on video chat sites.

Summary : Terrific plug-and-play webcam for Mac
When the built-in iSight on my Macbook died, I took it in to the mother ship to find out how much it would cost to have it fixed. $300? Forget it. I started hunting around for an external webcam. I saw the Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro for Mac in the Apple store, but initially dismissed it because I found it very expensive. I spent the next couple of days doing research, going through articles on preferred webcams for Macs, and combing through mixed reviews on merchant sites. I realized that not all webcams will work seamlessly with Macs. Some are selective about the programs they work on, some have features that just won't work at all on Macs, and some just don't have good video quality on Macs even if they perform reasonably well on a PC. Ungh.
I scoured Newegg for some bargains on cheap brands like Rosewill and the lower-end products (around $20) from Creative, but I was really discouraged by some scathing reviews on multiple sites. I then tried looking at webcams in the $50 range. Most of them were reported to perform reasonably well, but certain things kept popping up over and over again in the reviews: 1) The Logitech webcams generally use high-quality glass lenses compared to plastic lenses in brands like Creative. This is why Logitech cameras have a sharper image. 2) You get what you pay for. People would complain about complicated installations, poor video quality, poor performance in low light, etc.
The only webcam that consistently had great reviews was the Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro for Mac. I decided to just buy it. It was more than I'd planned to spend, but as I see it, it was worth every penny.
Ease of setup - All I had to do after I opened the box was plug the USB cable end into the USB port on my Macbook, and it worked! I was able to videochat with my boyfriend over Googletalk. I was initally a little confused as to how I was supposed to mount the webcam over my laptop monitor, because there were no specific instructions in the manual. Did the little ledge go behind the screen, or in front of it? (It goes in front.) But I don't consider that such a big deal, because after all I've never used an external webcam, and I figured it out in about a minute.
Video Quality - SUPERB. My boyfriend said it's so much better than the built-in iSight camera. It does really well even if you're sitting against the light. With the iSight, I'd come out looking like a black silhouette, so I'd usually have to turn around and face the window of my room. But with the Logitech, I looked completely normal in both situations. With regards to the frame rate, I was always pretty happy with my iSight because it never gave me choppy video over Googletalk. With the Logitech, frame rate is just as good as my iSight, or possibly a little better. It's completely crisp, almost too crisp... it'll show all the zits in my face that I'd rather keep hidden in blurry oblivion. But anyway, my point is, it does its job wonderfully. I love this camera and I'm so happy I bought it. It's money well spent.

Summary : Really good camera
Amazingly good quality. I have 3 MBPs and MB and recently built a hackintosh. This camera was for the hackintosh so I could do video chat with my friends around the world without having to bring in another of my computers. When I got the camera, I was a little confused by how to put it on my monitor but that was resolved quickly. When my friend in China saw my skype camera from it she was amazed by how good the quality was compared to any of my other computers. It performs in low light much better than the MBP cameras and the autofocus is nice and works even in low light. The color accuracy is good even if you are just using the monitor as lighting. In fact I have even had occasionally taken the camera off my hackintosh and put it on my unibody MBP 15" so that I don't get made as much fun of for washed out skin colors. I hesitated to pay this much money for a web cam, but I'm glad that I did.

Camera worked like a champ on my Mac Mini. Now I can chat with family using iChat AV on my small but mighty Mac Mini. Great video quality but has some odd zoom/focus issues in low light (+/- 5% zoom for a second and then back). Other than that, no software to install on the Mac (but that means the snapshot button on the side of the lens is useless), so effort was absolutely minimal. The adjustable legs seem just adequate...it doesn't perch very well on my aluminum Apple LCD, but worked better on my plastic Samsung LCD used with the other Mac. The stand can fold to sit on a flat surface, but don't like the look angle when used that way.
